Welcome Beat Movement Students
Submitted by DocHoc on Wed, 2008-05-07 18:36.Welcome to class!
You will also need to access the course on Moodle, the main discussion area, and UCO's WebCT, which we use for email and backup discussion. Please register or login to all these two other sites immediately. We use this site for backup.
Also, go through all the class material, especially the syllabus, which can be found on the Beat Diner site. Then ask me any questions you may have. Remember, this is a three-week intersession class so assignments come due quickly.
You can always email anytime through WebCT or call me, 405-606-5694, with your questions.

Welcome to class! I look forward to working with you this semester. We will use this site, itsambiguous.com, as a backup to Moodle and WebCT. If those systems are down, please check here. If this system is down, please check the Moodle forums or your WebCT email for information. I also post important class information on this site so you should login here four times a week. This lets me know you are checking the site.
Please go through the syllabus thoroughly and then do your preliminary work, such as registering here and on Moodle and posting your bio, as soon as possible. Do not hesitate to ask me questions through a WebCT email or by telephone, 405-974-5669.
Remember, this is an eight-week course. It has an ambitious reading schedule. Please set aside time to complete the reading. I understand how challenging this can be with your busy schedules, but the literature is well worth the effort.

The Moderns
Submitted by DocHoc on Mon, 2007-03-26 14:56.Hi, everyone. The class is going well. The discussion forums on Moodle are filled with your insightful comments, and your class blogs are interesting and current.

This week we turn to T.S. Eliot and The Moderns. Here is a podcast of one Eliot's most famous poems, "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock." Note how "Prufrock" anticipates The Waste Land with its irony and somewhat oppressive setting. Yet the poem never breaks into the complete fragmentation and complexity of The Waste Land. This is perhaps why Prufrock is better known that The Waste Land outside literary circles.
I have created a Moodle discussion forum dealing with Prufrock's ironic elements, and there are other forums as well.
Please remember to use the WebCT email system to email me about class business during the time period of this class.
